Us and them

Take care with this “us and them”. The division of “us and them” helps you sleep at night. For it’s the only way you can treat other people less than human beings.

The rules that you make for “them”, in time, may become the rules for us, you. For these same rules may spread to the wider population, who makes the rules of what determines who is on “this” side of this fence, and who is on the other side of the fence? And who says these same rules cannot be adjust just sufficiently so as to get those of us on this side of the fence to the other side?

For when you are on the other side, the same rules that you have made for “them“ will become the rules that will be applied to us, you, for you are now on the other side. Take care with this “us and them”, lest you find that you are now “them”, and wonder how we got here.

And no, you do not want to make such rules, nor do you want to be in their shoes. For you have made the other side of the fence unbearable.

They are human beings too. Begin here: they are human beings, and then move forward from there.
